BlackBeltHelp Launches Fully Bilingual AI Voice Agents, Bringing 24/7 Spanish Language Support to Higher Education

New Voice AI Agents Conduct the Entire Call Natively in Spanish, From Identity Verification Through Resolution and Spanish Text Follow Up, at Full Parity With English

Miami, Florida – August 12, 2026 – The Hispanic Association of Colleges and Universities (HACU) reported in April 2026 that 645 institutions now meet the federal definition of a Hispanic-Serving Institution, and that those campuses enroll 34.9% of all undergraduates in nonprofit higher education. More than one in three American undergraduates now attends a campus where at least a quarter of students are Hispanic. Very few can call the help desk at 9 p.m. and be helped in Spanish. Today, BlackBeltHelp announced general availability of fully bilingual Voice AI agents that conduct the entire call natively in Spanish, no human agent required.

The Moment Demands It

The student population changed. The phone line did not.

Roughly 45 million people in the United States speak Spanish at home, and half of Latino college students are the first in their family to attend. The caller asking how to submit a residency document is often navigating it for the whole household, in a second language, against a deadline.

Institutions answer with the tools they have: one bilingual advisor, a promised callback, an interpreter line. All of it depends on a specific person at a specific desk. Spanish language phone coverage is among the hardest shifts in higher education to staff, and impossible to cover around the clock.

“A student who can only be served when the one bilingual advisor is at her desk is not being served. Higher education built its support models around staffing constraints, and Spanish-speaking families absorbed the cost. Fully bilingual Voice AI removes the constraint entirely.”

Native Spanish, Not a Translation Layer

Most voice tools translate English output and read it back. BlackBeltHelp does not. The speech recognition layer runs a Spanish language model, so the agent understands Spanish speakers accurately, including names, student IDs, and campus terminology. It reasons and responds in Spanish, speaks in a natural Spanish voice, and uses localized prompts rather than runtime machine translation.

How It Works

Students reach a dedicated Spanish line, either its own number or a menu option. The agent greets, verifies identity, answers from the knowledge base, texts next steps in Spanish, and warm transfers to staff when needed. Broward College Academic Advising (Español) runs in production today. On a June call, the agent untangled a stalled application checklist for an international applicant and answered four questions about certified transcript translation, all in Spanish with no human involved.

Key Capabilities

  • Entire call conducted natively in Spanish, greeting through resolution
  • Spanish speech recognition tuned for names, student IDs, and campus terms
  • Natural Spanish voice, never translated text to speech
  • Verification, knowledge base answers, and self-service at English parity
  • Spanish SMS follow ups, warm transfer, and the same analytics as English

Availability

Fully bilingual Voice AI is available now within the BlackBeltHelp AI helpdesk platform, and institutions with an English agent can add a Spanish line in weeks. To hear it live, contact info@blackbelthelp.ai or visit blackbelthelp.ai.
